Physiotherapist & Company Director

David brings to Pondera 23 years experience in the management and treatment of conditions affecting people’s ability to live life to the fullest. Since graduation in 1991 from Queensland University, his diverse career has taken him around the world and landed him back in Brisbane. He spent 5 years in London as the Senior Physiotherapist at London Wasps Rugby Club and in 2011 was part of the medical team for the Qld Reds Super Rugby title winning squad.  Inspired by his wife Lisa Wilson (and now two daughters Keira & Georgie), recent years have seen a transition to extensive involvement in performing arts medicine. He is currently consulting Physiotherapist to the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and also had consultancy roles with Queensland Ballet, Expressions Dance Company, and musicals including Rock of Ages, Grease and Mary Poppins. He presented at the 2013 ASPAH conference and is a regular guest on 612 ABC’s Weekend program.

Clinically, David enjoys the challenge of solving longstanding pain. He has a wide range of manual therapy skills, rehabilitation techniques and diagnostic experience. His approach to your care is to search for the primary cause of your pain or injury and development a physical rehabilitation program to minimise pain and maximise function within the realistic restrictions from anatomical damage, your lifestyle and general health. He recently completed the APA’s Level 3 Sports Physiotherapy course at the AIS in Canberra and continues his education working towards his APA Sports Physiotherapist title.

David founded Pondera Physiotherapy & Pilates in 2006.

Melanie Fuller – Dance Physiotherapist, APA Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist

Grad Cert MSK Phty, M Phty, B.Ex.Sci, Adv Dip PA (Dance), ARAD

Melanie is a titled Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist with Exercise Science qualifications. She has extensive experience treating professional dancers in ballet, contemporary & musical theatre as well as working with adolescent dancers of all dance genres.

Melanie is Physiotherapy consultant to QUT Dance, providing treatment & lecturing to the dance students. She has provided physiotherapy to Queensland Ballet & Expressions Dance Company, in 2013 Melanie was a relief locum for The Australian Ballet. Her other experience includes work with touring companies Sydney Dance Company, Bangarra Dance Theatre, Royal New Zealand Ballet, & Paris Opera Ballet & she has been company physiotherapist to Legally Blonde, Mary Poppins, Grease & other touring shows for their Brisbane seasons.

At Pondera, Melanie treats injuries, conducts tertiary dance assessments, pre pointe assessments as well as ongoing advice & program design for performance enhancement. Melanie’s experience dancing herself lead her to gain an Advanced Diploma in Performing Arts (Dance) from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts & she is currently completing her Masters of Musculoskeletal & Sports Physiotherapy from Latrobe University. She has spoken at the World Dance Alliance, Australian Society of Performing Arts Healthcare conference & for various dance syllabi & assisted in professional development for fellow physiotherapists. Her skills continue to be developed through membership of the International Association of Dance Medicine & Science & the Australian Physiotherapy Association.


Louise Drysdale B. Phty

Louise Drysdale graduated from the University of Queensland in 2012. She worked as a Pilates & rehabilitation studio Instructor at Pondera whilst gaining her qualification and believes it is a fantastic clinical tool for rehabilitation and performance enhancement.

She has a keen interest in dance injury management and prevention, having danced at Queensland Dance School of Excellence herself. She has been involved in dance screening for pointe work, full time and tertiary students.

Louise has additional experience in the occupational physiotherapy, particularly in onsite task assessment, pre- employment functional assessments and return to work rehabilitation.

You may spot Louise running or cycling along the river in Brisbane, usually training for the next triathlon or half marathon.

Louise enjoys working with clients of all ages and believes you are never too old to perform at your best.
