David Peirce B.Phty

Physiotherapist & Company Director

David brings to Pondera 20 years experience in the management and treatment of a wide variety of conditions affecting people’s ability to live life to the fullest. Since graduation in 1991 from Queensland University, his diverse career has taken him around the world and landed him back in Brisbane. He spent 5 years in London as the Senior Physiotherapist at London Wasps Rugby Club working with players at the highest levels of representative sport. The last 10 years, David has had consultancy roles with the Reds Rugby franchise including 2011’s title winning squad, Queensland Ballet, Expressions Dance Company, the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and media work with ABC’s Weekend with Warren in 2010, Style magazine, Channel 9’s Extra and many online publications.

Clinically, David has a wide range of manual therapy skills, rehabilitation techniques and diagnostic experience. His approach to your care is to search for the primary cause of your pain or injury and development a physical rehabilitation program to minimise pain and maximise function within the realistic restrictions from anatomical damage, your lifestyle and general health. This approach is the inspiration for Pondera’s maxim of “Individual Care for Every Body”
David is also a co- presenter for the DMA Clinical Pilates program presenting course to Physiotherapists in the use of Pilates for movement re-education and functional rehabilitation. He founded Pondera Physio & Pilates in 2006. As the company’s business and clinical director he has never ending drive to learn more about the human body and behaviour.

 


Melanie Fuller

Grad Cert MSk Phty, M Phty, B Ex Sci, Adv Dip PA (Dance), ARAD

 Melanie is a Physiotherapist, Exercise Physiologist with a special interest in dance. Since completing her training from Griffith University she has gained experience treating, educating & rehabilitating a vast variety of conditions across different populations. She has completed an Advanced Diploma in Performing Arts (Dance) from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts.

Melanie has experience working with professional dance companies including: Queensland Ballet & Expressions Dance Company. She has experience with touring companies including: Sydney Dance Company, Bangarra Dance Company, Paris Opera Ballet & Mary Poppins.

Melanie enjoys working with adolescent dancers, conducting pre pointe assessments & aiming for the prevention of injury.

Melanie constantly undergoes further professional development & attends conferences through memberships of the International Association of Dance Medicine & Science & the Australian Physiotherapy Association.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     

Lauren Kelly

MSc Physiotherapy Studies, BSc (1st Hons) in Sport Science and Health

Lauren is newest member to join the Pondera team. She graduated at the University of Queensland’s GEMS Physiotherapy program following her undergraduate training in Dublin, Ireland. Lauren completed a research project studying the effects of sleep deprivation on cycling performance, which was published in the Journal of Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise from the American College of Sport Medicine.

Lauren has a strong background in sports medicine and brings with her experience from the Victorian Institute of Sport and for the last two years has worked with Taringa Rovers Football Club and was recently appointed as the club’s head physiotherapist. Lauren’s passion helping people return to the things they love doing. She believes teamwork with the client is vital to achieving their goals.
